RObert
'I don't do strava'
Robert has been obsessed with doing Race to Alaska from even before the time its creators dreamed it up. Any race in which an Olson 30 or a Hobie 33 or any other boat ending with 3x can be competitive is doing something right. He doesn't have a Fidbit nor an Apple Watch, and to him an Instagram Story is what you read at bedtime to your offspring so they let you watch the A-team in peace. Because he doesn't freak out in big winds, he thought he should be applying as a cyclist. He isn't sure he has the qualifications required but he doesn't get seasick and most bikers will be grateful to have him sit on the back bike.
Birth: Seattle. Primary Role on the team: East Coaster. Age he became a biker: Age is classified information. Family: Mom still lives in Bainbridge Island. Education: Evergreen State College, Columbia University. Profession: journalist and magazine editor. Type of biking he loves: Brooklyn to the George Washington Bridge, up the Palisades to PIermont. Other Hobbies: he knows how to use Skype and he listens to Jazz. 1-hour power output on the bike: 210 watts In his own words Why Team Shut Up and Drive?: "If they've really managed to build a four-rider pedal power plant, I am thinking that maybe it has to be counted as a favorite this year." |
His reaction to racing without a toilet: "Beats racing on a boat with a clogged toilet."
